Persephone The Pachyderm

Persephone Pachyderm, massive and grey
for breakfast ate 7.5 bales of hay.
She wouldn’t touch honey (nor butter nor jam).
She didn’t like biscuits (nor sausage, nor ham).
She simply ate hay in its raw, crunchy state,
Which is how she remained at her optimum weight.

When invited to comment, P. always would say:
“Who needs all those calories anyway?!
I’m a huge advocate of watching one’s figure.
When you start out as big as I am — Why get bigger?”

So don’t serve her muffins or crumpets and tea
Forget about waffles and decaf coffee!
